How do I get started?

Download Shoulder Surf from the App Store, sign in with your Apple ID, and you're ready to go. You get about 5 hours of cloud AI free every month, no credit card required.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are managed through Apple. Open Settings on your iPhone, tap your name at the top, then tap Subscriptions. Find Shoulder Surf and tap Cancel Subscription. You'll continue to have access until the end of your current billing period.

Can I use Shoulder Surf without a subscription?

Yes. You can use the built-in Apple Intelligence models on supported devices completely free, forever. You can also bring your own API key from OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google for full control over models and costs. Learn how we protect your keys.

How do I switch between on-device, BYOK, and cloud AI?

Open the app, go to Settings, and select your preferred AI mode. You can switch at any time, and your choice controls what data leaves your device.

How do I delete my data?

For data stored on your device, go to Settings > Data & Privacy within the app. For cloud-stored data (AI memory and meeting metadata), you can delete individual entries through the Memory Viewer or contact us at support@shouldersurf.com to request complete deletion. Cloud data is removed within 30 days of your request.

What devices are supported?

Shoulder Surf runs on iPhone. Meetings sync to iPad via iCloud. On-device AI processing requires Apple Intelligence-supported hardware (iPhone 15 Pro or later).

Does Shoulder Surf record audio?

Shoulder Surf uses your iPhone's microphone to transcribe speech in real time. You can optionally save audio recordings locally on your device. Raw audio files never leave your device regardless of which AI mode you use.

Can it capture a meeting without the microphone?

Yes. Captions mode reads a meeting's on-screen captions through your iPhone's rear camera instead of listening through the mic. It's built for online meetings where everyone comes through one speaker and similar voices are hard to tell apart. You can switch between Voice and Captions per session on the recording screen.
